Hunt Ball Party and Function Band

As well as many corporate events, Jewish celebrations and weddings, Metropolis often takes a well-deserved break in the countryside. Well, break isn’t quite the right way of describing when your performing to a packed dance floor of 700 guests…. One phenomenal non stop party to 2am is a better place to start! We had amazing evening up at the Blankney Hunt Ball in Newark last weekend and those hunters sure like to dance! From the word go there was literally no stopping them… however, when there’s a crowd from 18 – 80 how do you ensure all ages groups are catered for? Here are some ideas for how to make a great party band playlist:

1 - Make sure the set list is varied.

Gone are the days where a band could play 70s disco all night. It stands to reason that a party band needs to play some of the music the younger generations have on their iPods on a daily basis.  Many bands stick to the obvious Amy Winehouse and Duffy… but digging a little deeper there are many great tracks by the likes of  Beyonce, Rhianna ,Tiao Cruz, Bruno Mars all which a high end  function band can make come to life.  Having this modern edge is essential particularly for a bar mitzvah or university ball.

2 – Make sure there’s plenty of 80s in there!

Anyone who is now 40 would have grown up with Back To The Future…. So the Likes of the Power of Love and Footloose simply are a must! Not only great songs they are irresistible to dance too.

3 – Make sure there are plenty of classics.

Having just said you can’t play 70s all night, that’s not to right it off all together – Blame it on the Boogie is loved by everybody – not just 60 year olds! So some choice disco all helps to ensure a full dance floor. So whether you're 20, 40, 60, or 80 we’ve got something for you….
