Questions-for-live-bandParty Band Hire in 5 Words

    Budget, Professional, VAT, Sound Check

So you want to hire a party band. What are the questions to ask to get the most out of your party or event when hiring a party band?

    Top 5 Questions

                  1. How much will it cost?
                  2. Why should I pay that much?
                  3. Is the band professional?
                  4. Why do we have to pay VAT?
                  5. Will the music be too loud?

    1. Budget

Well, there are a number of different combinations a live band can provide. For example an eight-piece band is popular but you may be celebrating in style in which case the band can be bigger, twelve to fifteen members and include  production (a DJ) and sound engineers and even a cocktail pianist or harpist.

Quotes are therefore customised to each client and will be several thousand pounds.

    2. Quality and Integrity

If you are having that special celebration you want professionals, who have delivered at hundreds, if not thousands of gigs (Metropolis has been going for 12 years.  Practice is the key to consistency and a top party band is going to be rehearsing new material before playing live.

    3. Professional On & Off Stage.

The members of a true party band will be earning their living solely from music. It’s not easy but this commitment to playing together most days shows in the quality of the final performance at your party or function.

    4. VAT

It’s a sign of confidence really and that’s why that extra has to be paid. If a party band is charging VAT it means they are turning over at least £73,000 per annum. Only a band playing consistently for substantial  clients is going to hit this threshold.

    5. How Can Music Be Too Loud?

OK, so it could be so be sure to check that the band will liaise with the venue about the limits and that the band has sound engineers, we usually have two on duty.

Hello and welcome to a brand new year with us here on Planner’s Pod! We have lots of new and exciting things in store for all of you and we do hope you stay with us as we unveil them.

In this episode, we decided to start things up by having Metropolis’ very own Nick Ingram, our Creative Director, for the first time here on the show. Many of you have been curious and have asked us about how we do things in the company. So, what better way to open this up for discussion than having a team member on board.

Here we discuss the ins and outs of how to manage a live-band company, what sort of sticky situations we all get into and how we try to deal with those, as well as how to engage with clients and knowing them on a personal level to give them a unique and wonderful musical experience during their event.
